We're entering Memorial Day weekend with some crazy thunderstorms. Luckily, it's supposed to clear up tomorrow.

I almost picked this about two weeks ago because I thought it was a weed. I forgot I planted a trumpet flower last year! Now, I can't wait until the flowers bloom.

'Lost' party

We had a party Sunday night in honor of the 'Lost' series finale. A few people came dressed as characters.

My husband and our friend as Jacob and Jack. (When my husband doesn't shave, he looks more like Jacob.)

a new(ish) bathroom

This is what we spent the weekend doing....painting, new medicine cabinet, new light fixture. Exhausting work.

bathroom re-do

We decided to change out the light fixture in our bathroom today. In turn, we had to take down the mirror/medicine cabinet. And then it snowballed even more from there.



This is a before shot (but after the mirror was removed.) I like to call it exhibit A.

just swell

I shot photos at The Swell Season concert last night in Asheville.

These were my two favorite shots of the night.



The concert was amazing. The photos were a challenge (because shooting in a dark venue with iffy lighting and no flash is always challenging.)

It's my friend's birthday (this Thursday) and since we're having a gathering to watch "Lost" tonight, I made birthday cupcakes in her honor.

a cooler start to our week

It may not mean much to the average person, but this means a lot to me and my husband.


We finally have our ceiling fan installed. We paid someone to install it today. And it's awesome.

Biltmore House in a fog

I ran the Biltmore Classic 15k this morning, and I brought along the camera. (Obviously I wasn't pushing for a great time.)

It was foggy...very foggy.


But the Biltmore House is still pretty.

Chloe was annoyed with me for not letting her outside longer than I had - she got about a half hour outside before I brought her back in. She kept meowing, and then at one point, was trying to get my attention by coming at me over the arm of the chair. So I shot her photo.

A fourth trip to Lowes was made.

meet Roger

This is Roger, one of the winged lions at the Grove Arcade. He's kind of scary....and he has a brother that I'll photograph at some point.

morning routine

Our morning routine consists of Chloe waking me up, waiting for me to brush my teeth, and then walking down the hallway with me.

This morning, she chose to sleep in.



I wish I could have joined her.

I originally shot a photo of the meds I got this morning for today's picture of the day, but then I saw this dog. (Don't worry, I was at a stop light.)

The dog was way better than pills.

penguin

I know this wasn't taken today, but how often do I get to post photos of penguins?



This was taken at the Tennessee Aquarium. It's difficult to shoot photos through the glass (and I didn't use flash) but this little guy swam right up to me. I wish I could have a penguin as a pet.
