driving home again

my husband is my photo of the day as I didn't think today's activities warranted photos (funerals aren't great photo opps.)

Driving highway 74 again

this is the third time in 9 days I've been on Highway 74. It's the most boring highway in NC. (I'm riding so it's legal for me to take the picture and send the message.)

An evening of planting

We're leaving town again tomorrow and will be back late Wednesday, early Thursday, and I really needed to get these plants in the ground.
Last time we left town, two of my plants died. I'm hoping these guys will survive.

Oliver + water

This photo is slightly out of focus, so sorry about that.

I was watering the garden tonight when Oliver walked into the vegetable garden (he smashed a squash plant yesterday.) I sprayed him with the water hose, which didn't stop him. He actually seemed to like the water. The heat must have been too much for him.

Silly dog.

Will Hoge

Two photos from last night's concert, which ended after midnight, so technically the photos are from today.

Jane Green

Tonight I found myself in Charlotte, attending a discussion and signing by Jane Green. She just started a book tour to promote her new book, "Promises to Keep." I love the book. And I love Jane Green even more after talking to her.

Yellow rose that I planted in my yard a little over a week ago.

sad trumpet

This is what the trumpet flower looks like when it's run it's course.

Luckily, I have a few new blooms that haven't opened up yet.

sad shower selection

Today I came to the realization that Michaels has the worst selection of baby shower supplies ever.

This was the pier outside the house we stayed at this weekend at the beach.

I found this cat in the animals/pet section at the used book store in Holden Beach.

Sophie's haircut

Sophie got a bit of a haircut today! She's cooler and now requires sunscreen when we go on walks.

We had a pretty rough rainfall tonight, and I managed to capture the water gushing out of the downspout next to our carport (because there was no way I was walking out into the rain.)

new flowers

Up close and personal photo of the new hydrangea I added to our yard today.

someone has a new hat....

....and doesn't Chloe look thrilled?

(The hat was on clearance at Target - I often buy Chloe outfits for photos, but only on clearance. I find it pretty fun funny.)

Gary Ray & the Heartwells

There are three pictures today - because I shot over 100 of these guys at the Blue Ridge BBQ Festival.

trumpet flower, day 2

I'm seriously impressed with this flower. The flower from yesterday - that was so tightly closed? Um, it's opening. I thought on my walk that it would be open sometime this weekend.

We took a walk around 7:45 this evening. This was the flower at that time:

And by 8:15, it looked like this!

Can you imagine what it's going to look like tomorrow?

summer food.

This is a summer dish I make often, and we made it last night. First time this year. It was a long winter and I'm SO glad that summer (weather at least) is here. It means I can pick fresh basil out of the garden whenever I want to (which is what I did yesterday!)

Oliver's day!

Happy 14th birthday to of my favorite animals and dogs ever. If not my favorite dog (just try not to tell Sophie that.)

a little bit of fun

Someone had a good time last night.

(And, technically I cheated by using a photo I shot last night, but did you really want to see another picture of Chloe? She's the only one around right now and I did nothing fun today.)

donut eating contest

We went to a party tonight where a donut-eating contest was a part of the festivities. This is Carol, also the birthday girl (one of them.) She made it to the second round of the contest, but sadly lost.
(The goal was to eat the donut faster than the other person - there were four rounds. It started with glazed donuts and worked up to the eclair, a cream-filled pastry.)

sun poking through

I caught the sun poking through the fog and clouds this morning, as I sat at a stop light. I liked the power lines, so I didn't cut those out. And I'm sure the people coming to a stop thought I was crazy with my camera out my window. :)

We received this bird house for Christmas, and noticed a nest in it a few weeks ago. The baby birds have been chirping a lot this week, but this is about as close as I can get to it (with zoom) and see inside...the mother bird does not want us near, nor do we want to make her angry.

I also think the birdhouse is pretty, hence the photo. :)

white. fluffy.

This was a rare moment this week - when the sun was shining and we could see white, fluffy clouds (minus the gray and the rain we've seen a lot of.)

An hour later, the sky opened up and it poured.

Feed me.

Chloe waited for me while I made dinner tonight (she waits for me a lot in the kitchen - her treats are to the right - her left, in a drawer that you can't see in this picture.)
Oh, and check out Chloe's twin, Pumpkin, on Living in a Girl's World. For real. Long lost cat sisters.
