These zinnias reminded me of fall when I was at Lowes at lunchtime, so I bought them for our home.

These are going to be potted for our front porch.

This is what my morning run was like today:

Sophie-love

Sophie stays close to whoever is around - tonight she placed herself next to us on the deck while we ate dinner.


And this is blurry, but it's cute. My husband and Sophie (I know she doesn't look happy, but if she didn't love the constant affection, she would have run away.)

I have a thing for stripes

These are two fabrics I'm currently working with. They aren't being used on the same project, but they're creating similar things.

I love stripes, in case you haven't noticed.

Sometimes Chloe's paws are her best feature. I captured them in the sun.

homemade pizza

Tonight I tried out the Pioneer Woman's recipe (a variation, at least) for homemade pizza crust. I made a wheat crust, and this was the finished dish:

It was pretty fabulous, according to me and my husband.

Chloe...part dog?

Not only does Chloe love the dog beds (when I pull them out of the closet), but it seems that she also likes Sophie's rawhide chew.

cheer-up cookies

Mickey has a way of cheering a girl up. Especially in the form of chocolate chip cookies.

dog park

Sophie hasn't been adjusting to life as an only dog very well (Oliver went to doggie heaven on Friday) so we made a trip to the dog park this afternoon. She was happiest sitting in the shade, watching the other dogs play. We hope she'll warm up to them and make new friends soon.

Jack Johnson in Raleigh

Jack Johnson performed in Raleigh on Saturday night. He performed an acoustic set before his show, and we happened to catch the last three songs. I really lucked out with my photos (and more will be posted on my other blog soon.)

You wouldn't know it by looking at this photo that Oliver isn't feeling well at all.

Tonight we spent time on the porch. The weather finally cooled off and we could stay out a little bit longer than normal.

Santino Rice in Asheville

Santino Rice and Austin Scarlett are in Asheville filming their show, "On the Road with Austin & Santino" and today two reporters and I went on the hunt to track them down.

All I got was this simple cell phone shot, but at least I have proof, right? (That's the back of Jason Sandford.)

That has been the question most of the summer. On the left, we have mostly sunny skies. On the right, mostly cloudy.

And very little rain.

my desk needs some work

After a night of classes and freelance work, I realized I need to really work on my desk.

girl can start a fire

Taken at my Rotary Club picnic. Someone was supposed to show up early to start a fire, but Jacquie told me that SHE could start a fire. We just really needed someone to cook.

This morning I added blueberries to my smoothie, just to try it out. It tasted good, and I like the color.

He always looks happy, but he's having a hard time getting around these days. I took a lot of photos of him today fearing that we may not have him around too much longer.
