Happy New Year from my little family!
(I'm wishing the below photo wasn't blurry. Chloe was participating - willingly - and it would have been so great!)

pitiful (looking) Sophie
All Sophie wanted was for someone to play with her or pet her. She wasn't amused with the picture-taking.

leaning tower of snow
The sun came out today and began to melt our snow. This snow got stuck on it's way down from the top of one of the lights.

snow in Lake Waccamaw!
We went home today. This is what we woke up to:
Snow. In Lake Waccamaw. That rarely happens, much less THIS MUCH snow. The drive home was not fun.

Merry Christmas!
My sister-in-law brought her cat over to her parents house for Christmas. This was after he ripped his Christmas tie off.

decorated (plastic) horse
I introduced you to this plastic horse last month. The people who own the plastic horse decorated it for Christmas.
They must be serious about their horse. And I have to ask - why does someone want a life-sized plastic horse in their front yard?

A look at my passenger's seat - my purse, phone, MyAgenda and sticky notes to keep me even more organized.

pumpkin pie
I made pumpkin pies with gingerbread men (cut out of pie crust) on top.
The recipe was my great-grandmothers. And the pies (there were two) turned out great!

snuggly Chloe
Really poor quality photo of Chloe and me (and heavily cropped.) But she was SO sweet, and I tried to capture it.

I saw a rainbow today
It was a small rainbow, but I tried to get a photo anyway.
This has to be some sort of good luck. I'm just saying....

for real snow
as opposed to fake snow.
We really had snow overnight. This is the back of our house. And a reminder that I need to clear off branches that land on the roof.

cat under the Christmas tree
Chloe likes the fact that there's a tree skirt and presents for her to hide in beneath the Christmas tree. It makes things interesting.

snowflake pie
I made a pie tonight with snowflakes (instead of leaves.) I love my piecrust cutters from Williams-Sonoma!
This was pre-baking.

hard at work on cards
I finished 24 holiday cards today. They were completed with a "hand stamped" stamp on the back.
That was hard work.

long walk
We took a long walk to check out some new shops in our area (it's rare that we can walk to stores other than the liquor store.) This is one of the fields we walked by (and that I often run by.) Look closely for a horse...

sunrise over west Asheville
I caught this sunrise over west Asheville this morning. Looks like a sunset, but it really was 7 a.m. when I opened my curtains and was blown away by the colors. I had to capture it.

Elton John in Asheville
I saw Elton John tonight in Asheville. My first time seeing him in concert, and most likely my last (just because he has only been to this city twice.)
It was pretty amazing.

alpaca at the Studio Stroll
It's not every day I see alpacas and can feature them on my blog. Today I saw a few at the River Arts District Studio Stroll.
The studio stroll is held twice a year and people can meet the artists and buy their work during these weekends. (The artists generally have limited hours the public can enter the studios and make purchases.) It's very cool and we spent four hours down there - and didn't buy anything, but we may go back tomorrow.
